Come to Jesus

This is one of our family's favorite songs by a singer that's becoming one of our favorites too. Come to Jesus is written and sung by Mindy Smith. Her version of Dolly Parton's Jolene is great.

This song, to me, is about a parent's message to their children. When you've done everything you can as a parent to prepare your kids. You hope that one or two of the important things stick with them and make a difference. The most important to me is that they come to Jesus.
As the song says:

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Here's the video:

And here are the lyrics:
Oh, my baby, when you're older
Maybe then you'll understand
You have angels to dance around your shoulders
'Cause at times in life you need a helping hand

Oh, my baby, when you're prayin'
Leave your burden by my door
You have Jesus standing at your bedside
To keep you calm, keep you safe,
Away from harm

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Oh, my baby, when you're cryin'
Never hide your face from me
'cause I have conquered hell and driven out the demons
I have come with a light to set you free

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, my baby, when you're dying
Believe the healing of His hand
Here in Heaven we will wait for your arrival
Here in Heaven you will finally understand
Here in Heaven we will wait for your arrival
Here in Heaven you will finally understand

Worry not my daughters,
Worry not my sons
Child, when life don't seem worth livin'
Come to Jesus and let Him hold you in His arms

Blue Lake Hike

I had the day off on Monday, so we went for a hike.  We decided to go somewhere we hadn't been to yet.  We went to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.  Since the twins were going hiking with us we had to make it a reasonable hike.  We picked the Mitchell Lake Trail to Blue Lake.  The hike didn't look too bad on paper.....5.1 miles with 830' net elevation gain.  How would it be for two six year olds though?

We started hiking at about 9 AM.  We had plenty of time to reach the lake and get back home in time for supper.  We had great weather.....cool, sunny, with enough breeze to keep the hordes of mosquitoes away for the most part.  We found out that this isn't a Rocky Mountain National Park trail.....it's a true wilderness trail.  It was a trail in the sense that people walk on it and it's fairly identifiable (you won't get lost).  But, the trail is far from the maintained trails of the Park.  Large boulders dominated the path and kept the twins climbing up a great part of it.  There was also a wet stream crossing.....no foot bridge, no boulder hopping, no jumping it.  It was wide and wet....but fortunately no more than ankle deep in the deepest part.

We made it to the lake around noon and hung out there for about an hour.  We admired the beautiful waterfall on the far side. I was able to get a line wet with a little fly fishing.  No fish to be had or seen though.  Rain squalls kept coming over the top of Mt. Toll the entire time.

Fast and Furious Summer

It's been a busy glorious summer! We've been to Moab, Walden, Dillon, Colorado Springs, Lake McConaughy, and had birthdays, Mother's day, Father's Day, been fishing, camping, and hiking too. As a result I haven't posted anything since May. Here's our summer in 12 pictures.
